Elite Danab Special Forces of the Somali National Army (SNA), in coordination with international partners, have carried out a successful targeted operation against Al-Shabaab militants in the vicinity of Warmaxan area in the Lower Shabelle region.
According to security officials, the operation resulted in the killing of two Al-Shabaab fighters, while two others were captured alive. The raid was conducted based on actionable intelligence and aimed at disrupting militant activities that posed a direct threat to civilians and local stability.
During the operation, the forces also seized explosive materials that the militants were allegedly preparing to use in attacks against the civilian population. In addition, several hideouts used by Al-Shabaab to intimidate and harm local communities were destroyed, further degrading the group’s operational capacity in the area.
Military sources stated that the operation was carried out with precision to minimize harm to civilians and protect public safety. The collaboration with international partners provided critical support in planning and execution, underscoring the continued partnership in Somalia’s efforts to combat terrorism.
The Somali National Army reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining pressure on Al-Shabaab across the country, particularly in regions where the group continues to threaten peace and security. Authorities emphasized that such operations are part of a broader strategy to restore stability, protect civilians, and strengthen state authority in liberated areas.
