New contingent of AUSSOM Djibouti troops arrive in Beledweyne

A new contingent of Djibouti troops participating in the AUSSOM has arrived in Beledweyne to assume security responsibilities in the city and surrounding areas, including Buulo Burde. The newly deployed 13th battalion replaces the 11th battalion, which recently concluded its operational tour covering Beledweyne, Dhuusamareeb, and Buulo Burde. Led by Ahmed Adan Abdullahi, the incoming troops were welcomed at Ugaas Khalif Airport by Colonel Mohamed Omar Said, the commander of the outgoing unit, along with other senior Djibouti military officials serving with AUSSOM. Speaking at the airport, Colonel Ahmed Adan Abdullahi affirmed that his battalion is ready to fully take over operational duties, pledging to continue supporting ongoing security efforts in collaboration with local communities and the Federal Government of Somalia. Colonel Said urged the new forces to maintain strong community relations and honor the commitments made by the previous battalion, particularly in protecting civilians and strengthening local security. The AUSSOM plays a critical role in stabilizing central Somalia, particularly in areas that continue to face threats from armed groups like Al-Shabaab. The rotation of troops ensures sustained operational presence and reinforces the mission’s mandate to enhance peace and security in the region.
