Speaking at the airport, Colonel Ahmed Adan Abdullahi affirmed that his battalion is ready to fully take over operational duties, pledging to continue supporting ongoing security efforts in collaboration with local communities and the Federal Government of Somalia. Colonel Said urged the new forces to maintain strong community relations and honor the commitments made by the previous battalion, particularly in protecting civilians and strengthening local security. The AUSSOM plays a critical role in stabilizing central Somalia, particularly in areas that continue to face threats from armed groups like Al-Shabaab. The rotation of troops ensures sustained operational presence and reinforces the mission’s mandate to enhance peace and security in the region.
