The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, joined units of the national armed forces and civilians in celebrating Eid al-Fitr in Gandarshe, located in the Lower Shabelle region.

During the celebrations, the president extended his Eid greetings to the Somali people, describing the occasion as a symbol of unity, compassion, and solidarity among Muslim communities. He emphasized the importance of strengthening social bonds and supporting one another, especially during times of national rebuilding.

Reflecting on his previous visits to Gandarshe, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud highlighted the visible damage to infrastructure in the area, noting that it serves as a reminder of the impact left by extremist groups. He instructed government institutions to prioritize reconstruction and development efforts in the locality to improve living conditions for residents.

The president also urged citizens to uphold the positive values practiced during the holy month of Ramadan, including supporting security forces, assisting vulnerable communities, and working toward the common good.

He called on the public to continue standing behind the armed forces in their efforts to restore peace and stability across the country, stressing that collective responsibility is key to national progress.

In his closing remarks, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud prayed for lasting peace, stability, and prosperity for Somalia, expressing hope for a brighter and more secure future for all citizens.
