Najiib Bare Salaad, chairman of social affairs for Kismayo district, participated in a forum focused on early warning and early response (ewer) systems aimed at strengthening community safety and preventing conflicts.

The event, held in Kismayo, was organized by the Somali Women’s Study Centre with support from Saferworld. The forum brought together local leaders, community representatives, and civil society members to discuss strategies for improving early warning mechanisms and rapid response to emerging security risks.

Among those attending the meeting was Foos Ali Abdirahman, along with several members of the Kismayo community.

Discussions during the forum focused on sharing early warning information, reviewing recorded incidents between December 2024 and January 2026, and identifying practical measures to strengthen conflict prevention and enhance community protection.

Participants emphasized the importance of collaboration between local authorities, civil society organizations, and community members to ensure that potential security threats are identified early and addressed before they escalate into violence.

Speaking at the event, chairman Najiib Bare Salaad said that the Kismayo district administration remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote peace and stability. He noted that the local government has already provided office space to support the early warning program, demonstrating its dedication to strengthening cooperation between institutions and the community.

He added that improving early warning systems is crucial for safeguarding residents and preventing situations that could threaten the security and well-being of the public.

The forum concluded with a renewed commitment from participants to continue sharing information, strengthening community networks, and working closely with local authorities to build lasting peace and stability in Kismayo and surrounding areas.
