President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, hosted an iftar meeting with members of both Houses of the Federal Parliament, thanking them for the dedication, patience and responsibility they demonstrated throughout the national effort to finalize the country’s Constitution.

The president described the achievement as a historic milestone that strengthens Somalia’s statehood, unity and democratic system. He noted that the completed constitution will serve as a foundation for building strong state institutions, protecting citizens’ rights and advancing a governance system based on the rule of law and accountability.

President Hassan Sheikh also commended Somali experts and the technical committees that worked tirelessly to reach a national consensus reflecting the interests of the Somali people. He emphasized that the achievement was the result of domestic cooperation and determination rather than reliance on foreign assistance.

In conclusion, the president urged members of parliament and all government institutions to continue strengthening cooperation in order to achieve a fully functioning state that reflects the aspirations and future of the Somali people.
