During the session, officials highlighted recent achievements in the country’s security sector and reviewed key strategic priorities, including enhancing coordination across government levels, aligning international support, and strengthening collaborative initiatives to ensure national stability and resilience.

Minister Ali Yusuf Ali – Xoosh emphasized that the Higher Defence Committee provides a critical platform for guiding Somalia’s security and defence policy, noting that it will facilitate strategic decision-making, improve coordination among security institutions, and ensure a more unified approach to protecting national interests.

He further stressed that the forum strengthens cooperation between the federal government and international partners, enhancing Somalia’s capacity to address security challenges and build durable institutions capable of sustaining peace and governance across the country.

The meeting also served as an opportunity for the federal government to reaffirm its commitment to advancing a strong and effective defence framework, improving operational readiness, and promoting a secure environment that enables the country to continue its development and governance efforts.
