The State Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Ali Omar, on Wednesday held an important meeting with Somali business leaders, including representatives from banking associations, the Somali Chamber of Commerce, the telecommunications sector, and women entrepreneurs.

The meeting focused on preparing Somali businesses for the country’s integration into the East African Community (EAC), ensuring that the private sector plays a central role in the membership process. Discussions included practical measures to facilitate access to regional markets, address regulatory and investment challenges, and develop policies that support fair competition and business growth across East Africa.

The Federal Government of Somalia reaffirmed its commitment to continuous consultation and close cooperation with the business community, emphasizing that EAC membership should translate into tangible economic opportunities that drive national growth and development.

The meeting highlighted the government’s focus on creating an enabling environment for private sector participation, promoting regional trade, and ensuring that Somali businesses can fully benefit from emerging opportunities in East Africa.
