The Somali National Army (SNA) has continued its operations against Khawarij militants, killing a senior commander known as Timaweyne during a planned security operation carried out in areas under Sablaale District in the Lower Shabelle region.

The eliminated militant leader was responsible for extorting civilians under the group’s so-called “public taxation” wing. He had long been a source of suffering for local communities before being neutralized by the national forces.

During the operation, SNA forces also seized a Feykon motorcycle and an AK-47 rifle, which were reportedly used to harass and intimidate travelers and civilians in the area.

Military officials stated that such operations are part of ongoing efforts to dismantle militant networks, protect civilians, and restore lasting security across liberated regions.
