The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management of the Jubbaland State has issued an urgent appeal to international humanitarian organizations and aid agencies following a severe humanitarian crisis caused by Al-Shabaab attacks in Kudha village, under Badhaadhe District, approximately 130 kilometers from Kismayo.

The Ministry reported that the attacks have severely affected nearly 5,200 families, while about 3,500 people have been displaced, many of whom are now facing extremely harsh living conditions. The displaced populations are in urgent need of clean drinking water, food assistance, medical care, and emergency shelter.

According to the Ministry’s assessment, the situation deteriorated further after one of the village’s hand-dug wells was destroyed, leaving residents without access to safe and reliable water sources. The attacks also resulted in civilian casualties, including deaths and injuries.

The Ministry stated that it is closely monitoring the situation on the ground and stands ready to coordinate and facilitate humanitarian response efforts by partner organizations assisting the affected communities.

The emergency appeal emphasized the urgent need to provide clean drinking water and emergency water trucking services to ensure access to safe water, deliver food assistance to prevent hunger and malnutrition among vulnerable families, offer shelter and protection support to safeguard the dignity and safety of displaced persons, and supply healthcare services through the delivery of medical equipment and essential medical supplies to the affected areas.
