Chief justice of Somalia attends annual conference of African supreme court chief justices in Algeria

he Chief Justice of the Federal Republic of Somalia,  Bashe Yusuf Ahmed, has participated in the annual conference of Chief Justices of Supreme Courts from African countries, which officially opened in Algiers, the capital of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.

The high-level conference brought together Chief Justices of Supreme Courts and heads of judicial institutions from across the African continent to discuss key issues related to judicial independence, strengthening justice systems, exchange of judicial experiences, and aligning African courts with modern international judicial standards.

During the conference, Chief Justice Bashe Yusuf Ahmed is expected to deliver a speech highlighting Somalia’s experience in rebuilding judicial institutions, advancing legal reforms, and ongoing efforts to ensure transparent, accountable, and fully independent justice.

The forum also focuses on enhancing judicial cooperation among African countries, sharing information and best practices, and jointly addressing challenges facing justice systems across the continent. Key topics include combating corruption, addressing transnational crimes, and protecting human rights.
