The Minister of Finance and Economic Development of the Jubaland State, Ahmed Abdirisaq Mohamed (Handal), along with a delegation he led, has been on an official visit to Dhoobley District in recent days.

The purpose of the visit was to assess the district’s economic situation and to strengthen and enhance its financial and economic development. During the visit, the minister held consultations with local authorities and stakeholders on ways to improve revenue generation, service delivery, and economic growth in the district.

In cooperation with the Jubaland Ministry of Public Works, Reconstruction and Housing, the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, and the Governor of Dhoobley District, the minister and his delegation jointly laid the foundation stone for the construction of Dhoobley District Airport.

It was agreed that the airport project will be built through a self-reliance and community-driven approach, with contributions from the Ministry of Finance and the broader Jubaland community. Officials said the initiative reflects a shared commitment to improving infrastructure through local ownership and cooperation.

The Ministry of Finance and Economic Development of Jubaland reaffirmed its commitment to continuing efforts to develop economic infrastructure and strengthen government services, with the aim of ensuring that Jubaland residents receive quality services that meet their needs and support long-term development.

The planned airport is expected to improve connectivity, facilitate trade and mobility, and contribute to the overall economic growth of Dhoobley District and surrounding areas.
