The Minister of Environment and Climate Change of the Federal Government of Somalia, General Director  Bashir Mohamed Jama, accompanied by the Somali Ambassador to Kenya, Ambassador Jabir Ibrahim Abdulle, and several experts from the Ministry, held a meeting with the Head of the World Bank in Somalia, Mrs. Kristina Svensson.

 

The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between the two sides, with a particular emphasis on financing projects related to environmental development and climate change, as well as strategies for adapting and building resilience for vulnerable communities.

 

Minister Bashir and Mrs. Kristina Svensson agreed on the need to accelerate the World Bank’s development programs in Somalia, specifically the projects referred to as CCDR (Country Climate and Development Report).

They also discussed supporting the Ministry in areas such as laws, policies, and the capacity-building of the Ministry’s staff.
