Somali Civil Society Group has said it is concerned about the state of the families displaced in Guriel.

Hundreds of people have been displaced by fighting between Somali government forces and moderate Islamic group Ahlu Sunah Wal Jamaa fighters last week.

The chairperson of community peace and cooperation organization Sahro Maalim has said she is worried about the situation of those displaced in the deadly conflict.

She said scores of people have lost their lives while hundreds of others are still caught up in the fighting.

Sahro added that some of the displaced are living in appalling conditions and need urgent attention.

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has urged an immediate end to the conflict in the area and need for long lasting solution in the negotiation table.
