Somalia’s National Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (National Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission) on Monday officially launched a voter registration campaign in Jalalaqsi district of the Hiiraan region.

Officials from the Commission who are stationed in Jalalaqsi formally inaugurated the voter registration drive, marking another step in preparations for the country’s upcoming electoral process. The launch ceremony was also attended by local district administration officials, who expressed support for the initiative.

The voter registration campaign aims to ensure eligible citizens are properly registered and able to participate in future elections. Electoral authorities have emphasized the importance of broad public participation to strengthen democratic processes and enhance transparency.

Commission representatives encouraged residents of Jalalaqsi to take advantage of the registration period and fulfill their civic responsibilities. They noted that voter registration is a critical foundation for credible and inclusive elections.
