The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Government of Somalia, Daauud Aweys Jaamac, today received a delegation from Northeastern State at his office in Mogadishu. The delegation was led by the Minister of Information of Northeastern State, Ahmed Diriye, and included the Minister of Fisheries of the regional administration, Ismail Sheikh Ahmed.

The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between the Federal Ministry of Information and its counterpart in Northeastern State, particularly in aligning media policies and promoting national priorities through coordinated communication strategies.

Minister Daauud Aweys Jaamac briefed the delegation on the Federal Government’s media policy framework and outlined key national communication agendas. He emphasized that safeguarding Somalia’s unity and strengthening collaboration between the Federal Government and Federal Member States remain top priorities. He noted that effective media coordination plays a vital role in promoting stability, countering misinformation, and fostering public trust in government institutions.

The Minister further underscored the importance of responsible journalism and unified messaging in advancing peacebuilding, development, and national cohesion across the country.

During the discussions, both sides highlighted the need to build institutional capacity within the newly established Northeastern State administration. Minister Daauud Aweys pledged that his ministry would provide technical support and maintain close cooperation with the Northeastern State Ministry of Information to ensure it develops strong operational structures and professional standards.

The delegation expressed appreciation for the warm reception and reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with the Federal Government to promote accurate information dissemination and strengthen cooperation between the center and regional administrations.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to deepen intergovernmental collaboration in the media sector, reinforcing national unity and supporting the country’s broader state-building and development efforts.
