The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Government of Somalia, Da’uud Aweys Jama, has closed a one-day workshop focused on strengthening communication procedures among government institutions during emergency situations.
The workshop, which brought together government officials responsible for communications and media across various institutions, was officially opened by the Deputy Director of the Presidency, Mohamed Amin Sheikh Osman. Participants reviewed practical examples and simulation exercises aimed at improving how government messages are coordinated and delivered during times of crisis.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Minister Da’uud Aweys emphasized that the government has prioritized the unification of official messaging to ensure that information released to the public is timely, accurate, and consistent. He noted that clear and coordinated communication is essential to maintaining public trust and countering misinformation and propaganda spread by extremist groups and other actors seeking to destabilize the country.
Minister of State for Defense, Omar Ali Abdi, who also addressed the event, commended the growing coordination among government institutions. He highlighted that strong inter-agency cooperation plays a vital role in supporting national security efforts and ensuring effective public awareness during emergencies.
At the conclusion of the workshop, Minister Da’uud Aweys and Minister of State Omar Ali Abdi presented certificates to participants, encouraging them to continue enhancing their professional skills and to contribute to a more effective and unified government communication system, particularly during critical situations.
