Somalia and Egypt have held high-level diplomatic consultations aimed at strengthening their longstanding strategic partnership and enhancing coordination on regional and international issues.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Abdisalam Ali, on Wednesday held official talks in Cairo with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, H.E. Dr. Badr Abdelatty. The consultations underscored the depth, strength, and historic nature of relations between the two brotherly nations.

Discussions focused on reinforcing bilateral cooperation across political, diplomatic, and strategic sectors, as well as enhancing coordination on key regional matters. Egypt reaffirmed its firm and consistent support for Somalia’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, reiterating its commitment to standing alongside Somalia in safeguarding its national interests.

The two ministers also exchanged views on developments in the Horn of Africa, emphasizing the importance of joint efforts to promote peace, security, and long-term stability in the region. Both sides stressed the need for closer collaboration to address shared challenges and advance collective regional interests.

Minister Abdisalam Ali welcomed Egypt’s continued support for Somalia and praised Cairo’s constructive role in regional peace and security. He reaffirmed the Federal Government of Somalia’s commitment to deepening political trust, expanding cooperation, and strengthening diplomatic engagement with Egypt.

For his part, Dr. Badr Abdelatty highlighted Egypt’s commitment to further enhancing relations with Somalia, noting that Cairo views Somalia as a key strategic partner in the Horn of Africa. He emphasized Egypt’s readiness to broaden cooperation in areas of mutual interest and to support Somalia’s efforts toward stability, reconstruction, and development.

The consultations reflect the shared determination of Somalia and Egypt to elevate their strategic partnership, coordinate positions on regional issues, and contribute to peace and stability across the Horn of Africa.
