The Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Macalin Mohamud, today received the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Somalia, James Swan, at his office in Mogadishu.

The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation and partnership between the Federal Government of Somalia and the United Nations, with particular emphasis on justice sector reform, constitutional affairs, and the broader state-building process.

During the discussions, both sides exchanged views on ongoing efforts to enhance the rule of law, improve access to justice, and advance constitutional reforms aimed at consolidating governance and political stability in Somalia. The talks also highlighted the importance of continued international support for Somalia’s institutional development and reform agenda.

Minister Hassan Macalin Mohamud underscored the government’s commitment to advancing justice and constitutional processes in an inclusive and transparent manner, noting that these reforms are critical to strengthening public trust and long-term stability.

For his part, Mr. James Swan reaffirmed the United Nations’ continued support for Somalia’s justice and constitutional reform efforts, emphasizing the UN’s readiness to work closely with Somali authorities to support sustainable peace, governance, and development.

The meeting reflects the ongoing collaboration between Somalia and the United Nations in supporting key national priorities, particularly in the areas of justice, constitutional development, and state-building.
