The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, on Tuesday held a telephone conversation with the President of the Republic of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and addressing key regional issues.

During the call, the two leaders discussed the longstanding relationship between Somalia and South Africa, as well as opportunities to enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest, particularly in regional affairs, peace, and development. They also exchanged views on the broader situation in the region and the importance of collective efforts to promote stability and sustainable progress.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud emphasized Somalia’s commitment to deepening diplomatic ties with South Africa and strengthening collaboration on regional initiatives that support peace, security, and economic development.

President Ramaphosa reaffirmed South Africa’s firm support for the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia. He also reiterated his country’s commitment to working closely with Somalia to advance shared regional objectives and promote stability across the Horn of Africa and the wider continent.

The phone conversation reflects the continued engagement between the two countries and underscores their shared interest in enhancing regional cooperation, strengthening peace and security, and fostering development through diplomatic partnership.
