The Governor of Banadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Muungaab), on Monday officially inaugurated the Darmooley Girls’ School in Heliwaa District.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mayor Muungaab said the launch of the Darmooley Girls’ School reflects the continued commitment of the Banadir Regional Administration and the Mogadishu Local Government to improving education, with particular emphasis on expanding access to schooling for girls in the capital. He stressed that education remains the most important pillar for sustainable development, peace, and a brighter future.

Dr. Muungaab noted that investing in girls’ education plays a critical role in shaping resilient communities and fostering long-term social and economic progress. He reaffirmed the administration’s determination to ensure that children, especially girls, have access to quality and inclusive education.

Residents of Heliwaa District warmly welcomed the opening of the school, describing it as a major milestone that will positively impact the future of children in the area, particularly girls who previously faced limited educational opportunities.

The Banadir Regional Administration reiterated its commitment to implementing development projects in education, health, and social services, as part of broader efforts to accelerate overall development and improve the quality of life in Mogadishu.
