The State of Kuwait has firmly rejected the recently announced mutual recognition between Israel and the Somaliland administration, reaffirming its unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.

In an official statement released on Saturday, Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the move as a unilateral and legally invalid action that contravenes established principles of international law. The Ministry stressed that any engagement with Somaliland as a sovereign entity constitutes a direct violation of Somalia’s internationally recognized borders.

The statement emphasized that Kuwait does not recognize any measures that undermine the unity of Somalia or bypass the authority of its legitimate federal government in Mogadishu. It warned that such actions threaten regional stability and weaken the legal foundations governing relations between states.

“Kuwait categorically rejects any attempt to legitimize separatist entities or erode the sovereignty of brotherly nations,” the Ministry said, adding that Somalia’s territorial integrity remains non-negotiable.

Kuwait reaffirmed its full political and diplomatic support for Somalia’s federal institutions, underlining the importance of preserving national unity and constitutional order. The Ministry noted that strengthening the authority of the central government is essential for long-term stability, peace, and development in the Horn of Africa.

The statement also made clear that Kuwait opposes policies or diplomatic maneuvers that encourage fragmentation or weaken state cohesion in Somalia.

Kuwait’s position aligns with the broader Arab and Gulf consensus, which continues to back Somalia’s sovereignty and rejects any recognition of breakaway regions outside internationally agreed frameworks. The move reinforces a growing diplomatic front opposing efforts to normalize relations with Somaliland without the consent of the Somali federal government.

By publicly rejecting the Israel–Somaliland recognition announcement, Kuwait has sent a clear message of solidarity with the Somali people and a strong reminder that Somalia’s unity remains protected under international law. The statement underscores Kuwait’s continued role as a consistent diplomatic ally of Somalia in regional and international forums.
