Somalia’s Prime Minister, Hamza Abdi Barre, on Tuesday officially laid the foundation stone for the new National Curriculum Development Center, a key project aimed at strengthening the country’s education system.

The facility is intended to modernize Somalia’s national curriculum and align it with global education standards, supporting long-term human capital development.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Hamza emphasized that education remains the backbone of the nation’s future. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to investing in the next generation.

“A quality curriculum is the foundation of education. This center will serve as a hub for shaping the knowledge and intellectual growth of our children,” he stated.

In a separate message, the Prime Minister issued a strong warning to individuals occupying government-owned land and public buildings. He stressed that the government has entered a new phase of institutional rebuilding and called for the immediate evacuation of public property to enable proper service delivery to citizens.

The construction of the National Curriculum Development Center, funded by the federal government, forms part of broader efforts to enhance social services—particularly education—and to produce a skilled and knowledgeable population capable of contributing to Somalia’s reconstruction and development.
