The National Communications Authority (NCA) and the Information Technologies and Communications Authority (BTK) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of electronic communications.

Under the agreement, NCA and BTK will cooperate in areas of mutual interest, including satellite communications regulation, cybersecurity, spectrum management, broadband infrastructure deployment, the security and resilience of telecommunications networks and services, internet regulation, and other regulatory aspects of electronic communications.

The MoU was signed at the BTK headquarters in Ankara by Mr. Mustafa Yasin Sheikh, Director General of the National Communications Authority of Somalia, and Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu, Chairman of the Board and President of the Information Technologies and Communications Authority of the Republic of Türkiye.

Regarding the MoU, Mr. Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu said: “Through this partnership, we aim to promote the exchange of knowledge, regulatory experience, and best practices, thereby supporting resilient, forward-looking communications sectors in both Türkiye and Somalia.”

Mr. Mustafa Yasin Sheikh underscored the agreement’s importance, noting, “This agreement strengthens institutional collaboration between NCA and BTK and supports capacity building, knowledge exchange, and improved regulatory frameworks, thereby contributing to the growth and modernization of Somalia’s communications sector.”

Following the signing of the agreement, the Director General and his delegation have engaged with BTK and other relevant institutions through technical discussions, knowledge exchange, and experience sharing on regulatory practices, cybersecurity, consumer protection, and internet governance.
