Chaos unfolded in the outskirts of Burco, the central city of Togdheer region, as an armed and mentally ill individual launched a violent attack on Friday afternoon.
The incident resulted in multiple casualties, including three fatalities and several injuries. Shocked locals are grappling with the aftermath of this horrifying event, which has left a lasting impact on the community.
According to reports, the gunman targeted the Afmadobobe area in the Togdheer region, causing devastation and claiming the lives of three innocent people.
Another individual sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Burco General Hospital, where medical professionals confirmed the tragic death and provided urgent care to the wounded.
Speaking on the incident, a doctor working at Burco General Hospital shared, “In Togdheer region, four people were injured, three of them lost their lives, and one other person was brought to the hospital with serious injuries.”
Authorities in the Burco district administration have acknowledged the incident, expressing their awareness of the heinous act committed by the mentally ill assailant.
A spokesperson for the administration revealed that the victims were attending a meeting when the gunman launched his attack.
