Washington, D.C. – The Speaker of the Somali Parliament, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Noor (Madobobe), engaged in a significant meeting today with the Foreign Affairs Committee of the United States House of Representatives.

The discussions primarily focused on establishing a cooperative relationship between the Parliaments of Somalia and the United States, as well as exploring avenues for collaboration in the realm of development.

Speaker Adan Madobobe provided an overview of the Parliament’s ongoing initiatives, highlighting the laws approved by the 11th Parliament, progress made in the debt relief process, and efforts undertaken in combating the Al-Shabaab.

He emphasized the importance of facilitating trade and fostering business relations between Somalia and the United States.

Conversely, the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the U.S. House of Representatives presented the Somali Parliament with an overview of their development endeavors and identified challenges impeding the progress of the country’s governance.

The committee expressed its commitment to forging a new chapter of cooperation between the Somali Parliament and the United States.

In his remarks, the Speaker of the Somali Lower House expressed gratitude to the House of Representatives and the U.S. government as a whole for their support to the people and government of Somalia.
