Pomp and colour at International Women’s Day event in Somali Capital, Mogadishu

Somali women today gathered in an event to mark International Women’s Day in the capital Mogadishu.

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Human rights and Women affairs minister, Zahro Mohamed Samatar attended the colorful event.

The leaders called upon the protections of the women rights in the country.

Human right groups have previously accused various political factions in the recuperating war torn country over gross women rights violations.
