The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia on Thursday issued an official directive instructing all imams and khatibs across the country to dedicate this Friday’s sermon, scheduled for January 2, 2026, to two key themes: “The Importance of Unity and Solidarity of the Somali People” and “The Dangers of Foreign Interference.”
The Ministry said the chosen topics are of critical importance at this time, citing regional and global developments, as well as ongoing attempts to undermine Somalia’s sovereignty, independence, and national cohesion.
In its statement, the Ministry urged mosque leaders to fully carry out their religious responsibility by using the Friday sermon as a platform for national awareness and civic guidance, encouraging citizens to safeguard unity and social harmony.
The Ministry also expressed appreciation to Somali scholars and religious leaders for their continued efforts in educating and guiding the public, commending their role in strengthening national consciousness and religious values.
