Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has officially announced the recognition of Somaliland as a fully independent and sovereign state. The historic move was formalized through a joint statement signed by Prime Minister Netanyahu, Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen Sa’ar, and Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi.

The statement cites the spirit of the Abraham Accords, which have previously contributed to strengthening peace and regional cooperation. Prime Minister Netanyahu praised President Abdirahman’s effective leadership and efforts to promote stability and peace in Somaliland, while inviting him to make an official visit to Israel.

In response, President Abdirahman expressed his gratitude for the historic announcement, acknowledging Israel’s role in counterterrorism efforts and regional peacebuilding.

Prime Minister Netanyahu also thanked Foreign Minister Sa’ar, Mossad Chief David Barnea, and all personnel involved in this historic achievement, wishing the people of Somaliland success, prosperity, and freedom.

The Israeli government plans to rapidly expand its new relationship with Somaliland, focusing on collaboration in agriculture, health, technology, and economic development, aiming to strengthen partnership and mutual progress.
