Somalia President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohammed Farmaajo arrived in the Eritrean capital Asmara midday on Saturday for a thtre day state visit.
Farmaajo was welcomed by hia counterpart Isias Afewerki at the Asmara International Airport.
The major streets of Asmara were decorated by Somalia and Eritrean flags with hundreds of Eritreans lined up to welcome the Somali President.
Farmaajo and Afwerki held a summit at the Presidential Palace.
The Somali delegation is made up of Ministers of Information,Culture &Tourism, Transport, Construction; & State Minister at Foreign Ministry.
President Mohammed will visit development sites during his tour, Eritrean Infomation ministry said
Eritrea which until recently was politically isolated by its Horn of Africa neighbours had in the past been accused by the UN of funding Somalia militant group Alshabaab which it denied.
Asmara’s recent end of state of war with neighbouring Ethiopia, an ally of Somalia, has seen it reinstate diplomatic relations with other countries.
Somalia and Eritrea are the only former Italian colonies in Africa.
