The Chair of Somalia’a  National Independent Electoral Commission Mrs Halima Ismail Ibrahim  has been released by Galmudug authorities following her on Friday, Radio Dalsan reports.
The regional state Chief Minister Sheikh Mohamed Shakir Ali Hassan officially visited Mrs. Ibrahim at her Dhusamareb home and issued an official apology over her arrest.
Sheikh Mohamed explained that the polls body  boss had been arrested out of “confusionâ€.
Mrs. Ibrahim had arrived in Dhusamareb when her vehicle was stopped and searched at a checkpoint.
Her bodyguard was disarmed of his AK 47 and together with Mrs. Ibrahim and the driver were arrested.
Mrs. Ibrahim was reportedly put under house arrest.
There has been a lockdown on the administrative capital Dhusamareb  ahead of the arrival of President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed Farmaajo’s who kicked off his tour of Galmudug on Saturday.
