Somalia´s Army chief General Abdiweli Jama Hussein “Gorod” has warned President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed Farmaajo´s security advisor against interfering with the military.
Radio Dalsan is privy to a letter dated 7th February which is a reply to an earlier one from Villa Somalia that had warned the Army Chief against making decision on military matters without consulting the Farmaajo advisor .
The Office of the commander states in the letter that Farmaajo advisor has no powers to interfere with the issues it addressed.
“First, I am informing you that the Somali National Army comes directly under the office of the Army Chief. And no any other party can directly communicate with it as per the legal chain of command in government officesâ€
“Therefore, you are warned from wiring a similar letter to the office of the Army Chief in the futureâ€.
In a letter dated January 16 signed by the National Security Adviser to President Farmaajo. Abdisaid Muse “On behalf of the President†ordered that no weapon issuance be conducted  without consulting Villa Somalia.
“No weapons should be removed from an SNA arsenal until we get a new format of controlling and monitoring arms that is acceptable to the international community and the UN†the letter said.
“No information should be made public to the international community on the SNA arsenal, the number of bullets and all military equipment without first passing the office of the National Security Adviser and Ministry of Defence.
The letter orders that all issuance of service numbers to newly recruited SNA soldiers be done using a biometric system and that a task force headed by the National Security Adviser is to oversee the issuance of weapons, service numbers and information on the SNA arsenal.
