The Kismayo District local government has initiated the implementation of road signs and traffic signals as part of ongoing efforts to improve safety and urban aesthetics in the city. The project targets key roads within the district, aiming to guide drivers and pedestrians while reducing traffic-related accidents.

Officials from the municipal government stated that the initiative forms part of a broader urban development plan designed to enhance infrastructure, streamline transportation, and improve traffic flow throughout the city. The signage includes critical information on directions, speed limits, and right-of-way regulations, ensuring safer and more efficient mobility for residents.

“This project is a step toward modernizing Kismayo’s road network, making it safer and more visually appealing for everyone,” said a municipal spokesperson. “We urge drivers and the public to cooperate with authorities while the work is ongoing and exercise patience as we complete the installation of the new signs.”

The local administration emphasized that the initiative reflects a long-term commitment to urban development, with continued investments planned to expand and maintain road infrastructure. The goal is to ensure that Kismayo not only meets the daily transportation needs of its residents but also sets a standard for safe, organized, and attractive city roads.

The municipal government has pledged to sustain these efforts, aiming to make Kismayo a model city in the region with efficient traffic management, improved road safety, and enhanced urban aesthetics.
