The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, Faysal Aadan Xasan, has confirmed that preparations are underway for the First National Justice Sector Convention, set to take place in Mogadishu.
Speaking to the media, the Permanent Secretary announced that the convention will be held from 22 to 23 November 2025. The event will focus on justice sector reform, strengthening judicial institutions, and empowering Somalia’s courts and legal bodies.
The National Justice Convention is expected to become an annual platform that brings together key actors within the justice and judicial sectors. Participants will engage in dialogue on reform pathways, policy development, and long-term strategies for modernizing Somalia’s justice system.
Delegates will include representatives from federal government institutions, justice ministries of federal member states, civil society organizations, and invited guests. The gathering aims to promote collaboration, share expertise, and accelerate the transformation of Somalia’s justice architecture.
Officials emphasize that this inaugural convention marks a significant milestone in building a fair, independent, and effective justice system that meets the needs of the Somali people.
