Somaliland authorities on Sunday night arrested politician Suleiman Ibrahim Mohamud for attempting to form a regional state within Somaliland.

Sources told Radio Dalsan on condition of anonymity that security agencies arrested Mr. Mohamud following his announcement on February 14, 2018, that he will form Saahilland state.

Mr Mohamud who made the announcement in Burao protested how Somaliland handled the oil exploration in Berbera and the management of the town’s seaport by the UAE’s DP World company.

Berbera is in Saahil region.
