Somali National Army (SNA) forces, in coordination with the National Intelligence and local communities, have carried out a planned operation targeting Al-Shabaab in Lower Shabelle Region.
The operation, led by the Commander of the First Unit of the Gorgor Commandos, Brig. Gen. Sahid Jama Farah Jareere, was conducted in the areas of Galka Saalimoow, Diira-fuul, Qodqodka, and Dooxa. SNA forces, particularly the Gorgor Commandos, fully secured the operational zones.
During the operation, troops cleared roads of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) that Al-Shabaab intended to use against civilians and dismantled insurgent bases that the group used to ambush local populations.
The operation is part of the Somali government’s ongoing efforts to ensure comprehensive security and combat Al-Shabaab, providing local communities and businesses with a safer and more stable environment.
