Sahal Abdullahi Omar, the Commander of the Land Forces of the Somali National Army, has conducted a field inspection in Gandarshe in the Lower Shabelle region, where he met troops stationed on the frontlines of ongoing military operations.

The commander was accompanied by the head of the 1st Gorgor Commando Division, Saahid Jareere, with the visit aimed at boosting the morale of soldiers engaged in operations against the militant group Al-Shabaab.

During his visit, General Sahal praised the troops for their bravery, sacrifice, and resilience in confronting militant attacks. He noted that the recent successes achieved on the battlefield reflect the continued commitment and determination of the national forces.

The Lower Shabelle region remains one of the key areas in the fight against Al-Shabaab, with Somali forces making significant gains through Operation Badar, which has been ongoing during the holy month of Ramadan.

Military officials say the operation has resulted in the liberation of large areas previously used by militants as hideouts, marking a major step forward in efforts to restore security and stability in southern Somalia.

The visit underscores the leadership’s continued engagement with frontline troops and its commitment to sustaining momentum in the fight against insurgency, as operations intensify across key regions of the country.
