Southwest State’s re-elected president has delivered a pledge to finalize unfinished projects and deepen security reforms, framing his second term as a continuation of work that survived “difficult circumstances” during his first tenure.

In a speech delivered shortly after the election results were confirmed, the president reflected on the administration’s track record, pointing to the formation of specialized security forces and development initiatives as key achievements that required further consolidation.

“I hope and request, while you consider the achievements and the difficult circumstances we have navigated, the many efforts we invested in the Southwest State and the many things we have accomplished, along with the understanding we have gained,” he said. “I ask you to elect me so that I may complete what remains.”

Although he had already secured re-election at the time of the remarks, the address carried the tone of a mandate reaffirmation-calling on regional lawmakers and stakeholders to support the completion of ongoing efforts.

The president specifically highlighted three priority areas for his incoming term: security and the formation of specialized forces for the Southwest State government, infrastructure and development projects for the people of the region, and the advancement of social affairs, with primary emphasis on healthcare.

“Whether it is ensuring security and the formation of specialized forces for the Southwest State government, or the projects and development for the people of Southwest State, or the development of social affairs, primarily healthcare,” he stated, outlining the pillars of his second-term agenda.

Political analysts in Baidoa viewed the speech as an effort to signal continuity and stability following the election. The president’s first term was marked by both security challenges and significant state-building efforts, including the integration of regional forces and efforts to expand basic services.

With the new term now formally underway, attention is expected to turn to how swiftly his administration can implement the outlined priorities-particularly the completion of specialized security units and healthcare infrastructure.
