The displaced families have sought refuge in northern villages outside Hawaadley District, where they are now struggling to survive amid worsening humanitarian conditions. Several displaced residents who spoke to local media reported serious health challenges, particularly among children, who are suffering from acute diarrhea, malnutrition, and other preventable illnesses.
According to the displaced families, access to clean drinking water, food, shelter, and basic healthcare services remains extremely limited. Many families are currently living in temporary shelters with little protection from harsh weather conditions, while shortages of clean water have increased the risk of disease outbreaks.
Despite the severity of the situation, residents say no sufficient humanitarian assistance has yet reached the affected communities. The lack of immediate aid has heightened fears of a potential health emergency, especially for children, the elderly, and pregnant women.
Community elders and displaced families have issued urgent appeals to humanitarian organizations and the Federal Government of Somalia, calling for rapid intervention to provide life-saving assistance. So far, government authorities have not taken visible action to address the needs of civilians displaced from areas under Hawaadley District in Middle Shabelle. The absence of an official response has raised concerns among residents about the prolonged neglect of communities affected by conflict.
