The Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Abdihakiin Hassan Ashkir, officially oversaw the handover of duties between the outgoing and incoming Director Generals of the Ministry.

The ceremony marked the transfer of responsibilities from the former Director General, Ayduruus Macallin Hassan, to the newly appointed Director General, Mr. Abdulqaadir Elmi. During the event, Ashkir emphasized the importance of continuity in governance and the smooth implementation of the Ministry’s ongoing projects and policies.

Speaking at the handover, the outgoing Director General, Ayduruus Maallin Hassan, expressed his gratitude to the Ministry staff for their cooperation during his tenure. He highlighted the achievements made under his leadership, including reforms in federal coordination, local governance oversight, and reconciliation efforts across the country.

The newly appointed Director General, Mr. Cabdulqaadir Cilmi, pledged to build on the foundation laid by his predecessor. He emphasized his commitment to advancing federalism, improving coordination between the central government and regional administrations, and ensuring the Ministry’s policies effectively address Somalia’s internal affairs and reconciliation priorities.

Deputy Minister Ashkir urged both the outgoing and incoming leaders to work hand-in-hand with Ministry employees to maintain stability, improve administrative efficiency, and promote transparency in all governmental processes. He noted that leadership transitions are critical to strengthening the institutional framework of the Ministry and enhancing public trust in federal governance.

The handover ceremony concluded with a pledge from all parties to prioritize the welfare of Somali citizens, reinforce security and governance structures, and continue collaborative efforts with regional administrations to foster peace and development across the country.

This leadership transition is expected to bolster the Ministry’s efforts in federal coordination, reconciliation initiatives, and local governance, ensuring that Somalia continues on a path of stability and institutional strengthening.
