The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, on Tuesday participated in the ceremony marking the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Federal Republic of Somalia and the People’s Republic of China, held in Mogadishu.
In his speech, Prime Minister Hamza emphasized the historic significance of 65 years of diplomatic engagement, highlighting the deep-rooted friendship, mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation that have characterized the bilateral relationship.
He noted that since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1960, Somalia and China have navigated various regional and global changes together, with China consistently serving as a key partner supporting Somalia’s national priorities.
The Prime Minister specifically praised China’s recent pledge of one million U.S. dollars for emergency relief to Somali communities affected by drought, describing it as a tangible demonstration of enduring friendship and solidarity.
The anniversary ceremony was attended by members of the Somali Cabinet, ambassadors and representatives of the international community in Mogadishu, and other invited guests.
This milestone underscores the long-standing partnership between Somalia and China, reflecting shared interests in development, stability, and mutual cooperation across multiple sectors.
