The Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mohamed Farah Nuh, accompanied by senior officials from the ministry and the management of Aden Adde International Airport, held an important working meeting with representatives of various companies operating at the airport. The meeting focused on advancing strategic plans aimed at expanding, upgrading, and modernizing the country’s main international gateway in line with global aviation standards.

Discussions centered on key development priorities, including the expansion of airport facilities, rehabilitation and construction of internal and surrounding access roads, and the enhancement of the airport’s overall appearance and functionality. Participants highlighted the need to accelerate infrastructure projects to ensure the airport can safely and efficiently handle increasing passenger and cargo traffic.

The Minister underscored the importance of close coordination and cooperation among all stakeholders, including private operators, airport management, and security agencies, to ensure smooth implementation of ongoing and planned development works. He stressed that collaboration is essential to maintaining safety, operational efficiency, and service quality during the construction and expansion phases.

The meeting also agreed on the establishment of regular monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to assess project progress, address challenges in a timely manner, and ensure accountability in the delivery of agreed initiatives.

This engagement forms part of the broader efforts by the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation to transform Aden Adde International Airport into a modern regional aviation hub. The planned upgrades are expected to strengthen Somalia’s global connectivity, improve passenger experience, support trade and tourism, and contribute significantly to the country’s economic growth and long-term development.
