The National Communications Authority (NCA) and SIMAD University, in collaboration with CyberSecurity Malaysia, launched today the Global Accredited Cybersecurity Education (ACE) Certification – Somalia Country Chapter, marking a significant milestone in strengthening Somalia’s national cybersecurity capacity through globally recognised standards and professional certification.

The launch ceremony, held at SIMAD Town Campus, brought together members of the National Communications Authority (NCA), SIMAD University, and CyberSecurity Malaysia to formally introduce the Global ACE framework in Somalia.

Speaking at the opening, the Chief Executive Officer of CyberSecurity, Dato’ Ts. Dr. Haji Amirudin Abdul Wahab, Malaysia, highlighted that establishing the Somalia Country Chapter reflects a shared commitment to global cooperation in cybersecurity education. He emphasised that the Global ACE framework supports governments and academic institutions in developing competent, ethical, and industry-ready cybersecurity professionals, aligned with international standards and mutual recognition across borders.

The Rector of SIMAD University, Dr Abdikarim Mohaiadin, underscored the university’s role in hosting and supporting the Country Chapter, stating: “SIMAD University is honored to host the Global ACE Somalia Country Chapter. This initiative supports our mission to provide high-quality, globally recognized education and to equip Somali youth and professionals with the skills needed to safeguard and develop the country’s digital future.”

The Director General of the National Communications Authority (NCA), Mr Mustafa Yasin Sheikh, reaffirmed the regulator’s commitment to building a strong national cybersecurity ecosystem, saying:“The launch of the Global ACE Somalia Country Chapter is a strategic step towards strengthening cybersecurity governance and professional capacity in Somalia. Through this collaboration, we are supporting the development of a skilled workforce that meets international standards and contributes to the security, trust, and growth of our digital economy.”

The Global Accredited Cybersecurity Education (ACE) framework is a globally recognised, vendor-neutral certification scheme developed in collaboration with government, industry, and academia and aligned with international standards. Through SIMAD University as the host institution, the Somalia Country Chapter will support certification, training, and capacity-building programmes for students, practitioners, and professionals across the cybersecurity field.
