A powerful explosion was reported on Tuesday night in Mogadishu’s Wadajir district, resulting in multiple casualties, according to local officials and eyewitness accounts.
The incident occurred near the General Dhegabadan military facility, an area that hosts government security personnel. Witnesses reported that the blast struck close to a site where members of the security forces were present, causing injuries and loss of life among both personnel and nearby civilians. Authorities have not yet released an official casualty figure.
Security forces quickly cordoned off the area to facilitate emergency response efforts, while ambulances transported the injured to hospitals across the capital for treatment.
