The Mayor of Mogadishu and Governor of Banaadir Region Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Mungab), today laid the foundation for a new, large-scale hospital in the Garasbaaleey district.
The project, a collaboration between the Banaadir Regional Administration and Qatar Charity, aims to provide free healthcare services to local residents and internally displaced persons living in the area.
During the ceremony, the Mayor emphasized that the hospital will be equipped with modern medical facilities, essential medicines, and qualified doctors to ensure the community has access to comprehensive healthcare services.
He noted that the initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen public health infrastructure and improve the wellbeing of vulnerable populations, particularly those affected by displacement and limited access to medical care.
The Mayor also addressed the upcoming elections scheduled for this month, urging citizens to actively participate and ensure a peaceful and transparent voting process.
He highlighted the importance of maintaining security, fulfilling tax obligations, and engaging in community activities as key components for successful elections.
Officials from Qatar Charity confirmed their commitment to supporting the project, stating that the hospital will serve as a model for public-private cooperation in delivering essential health services to communities in need.
The new facility is expected to significantly reduce pressure on existing health centers and improve access to quality healthcare for thousands of residents in Garasbaaleey and surrounding areas.
The foundation-laying ceremony was attended by local leaders, community members, and representatives of humanitarian organizations, marking a significant milestone in the city’s ongoing efforts to expand social services and enhance public welfare.
