Tension is rising in parts of Galgaduud and Mudug regions following the killing of a father and his son in what authorities believe is part of an ongoing wave of clan-related revenge attacks.

The victims, identified as Abdullahi Mohamed Lugtii Jiic and his son Baashi Abdullahi Mohamed Lugtii Jiic, were shot dead in Labi Kooraale, a village under Balanbale District in Galgaduud region.

According to local sources, the attackers, armed militia suspected to have come from Balanbale—ambushed the victims in retaliation for previous inter-clan disputes.

The tragic incident adds to a string of revenge killings that have rocked several areas within the Galgaduud region, where long-standing clan feuds continue to fuel violence and instability.

A heavy sense of tension has since gripped villages around Balanbale and Guriceel, as residents fear further reprisal attacks.

Local elders and community leaders have called for urgent intervention to prevent the violence from escalating, warning that continued inaction could plunge the region into a full-scale conflict.

Meanwhile, the Galmudug regional administration has come under criticism for failing to curb the recurrent inter-clan killings that have destabilized large parts of Galgaduud and Mudug.
