Secretary-General of the House of the People Visits the Somali Embassy in Beijing

The Secretary-General of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdulle (Jaabiri), who is currently on an official working visit to the People’s Republic of China, paid a courtesy visit today to the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia in Beijing.

He was warmly welcomed by H.E. Ambassador Hodan Osman Abdi, along with the diplomatic staff and embassy officials.

During the visit, Secretary-General Jaabiri commended Ambassador Hodan and the entire diplomatic team for their dedicated service to the nation, which reflects the values, dignity, and aspirations of the Somali people. He particularly praised their ongoing efforts to strengthen the strategic partnership between Somalia and China.

He also encouraged the embassy staff to continue their proactive approach in promoting investment opportunities, expanding cooperation in various sectors, and enhancing Somalia’s positive image abroad.

Ambassador Hodan Osman Abdi Participates in the World Women Leaders’ Summit in Beijing

H.E. Ambassador Hodan Osman Abdi, the Somali Ambassador to China, had the honor of participating in the World Women Leaders’ Summit, held in Beijing — an event that gathered senior leaders and high-level delegations from around the world.

Ambassador Hodan welcomed the outcomes of this historic conference and commended the leadership of the People’s Republic of China for successfully hosting such an important global forum. She noted that the atmosphere was filled with a spirit of optimism and solidarity, reflecting genuine global commitment to empowering women and advancing their participation in social and economic development.

Commenting on the keynote address by H.E. President Xi Jinping, Ambassador Hodan lauded the concrete initiatives announced, including:

  • A contribution of 10 million USD to UN Women,

  • The allocation of 100 million USD to the Global Development and South–South Cooperation Fund for women’s and girls’ programs,

  • Support for 1,000 “small yet beautiful” livelihood projects, and

  • The invitation of 50,000 women to China for training and professional development programs.

She emphasized that these initiatives demonstrate China’s firm commitment to strengthening women’s roles in societal development.

Ambassador Hodan also highlighted China’s notable achievements in women’s education, scientific research, entrepreneurship, and maternal and child health, describing them as inspiring examples of what can be achieved through determination and strategic vision.

“As Somalis,” she said, “we stand firmly for the education of our girls, the leadership of our women, and the active participation of every citizen in building the future of our nation.”

In conclusion, Ambassador Hodan reaffirmed Somalia’s commitment to working closely with China and other partner nations to promote women’s rights, expand economic opportunities, and foster sustainable development.
