The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, has carried out a minor reshuffle affecting several director generals (DGs) of government ministries. The changes, announced Wednesday, replace the top administrative heads of key ministries responsible for national security, public health, and economic development.

The newly appointed officials are expected to take over the day-to-day operations of their respective ministries immediately, with a focus on service delivery and the implementation of government policies.

The Prime Minister’s office confirmed the appointments, which include strategic changes at the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Security, indicating a continued focus on stabilizing the country’s security apparatus. Additionally, new leadership at the Ministry of Health comes at a time when the government is expanding healthcare access, while the appointment at the Ministry of Planning signals a renewed emphasis on economic growth and investment.

The full list of appointees is as follows:

  1. Yusuf Ali Mohamed – Director General of the Ministry of Defense.
  2. Mohamed Saney Dalmar – Director General of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
  3. Abdifatah Abdiqadir Farah – Director General of the Ministry of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development.
  4. Gulied Abdi-Jalil Ali – Director General of the Ministry of Livestock, Forestry, and Range.
  5. Yusuf Hassan Isaaq – Director General of the Ministry of Health and Human Services.
  6. Mohamed Hassan Shire – Director General of the Ministry of Internal Security.

The reshuffle is part of the ongoing administrative reforms by the Hamza Abdi Barre administration to streamline operations and ensure that government institutions are led by qualified personnel capable of meeting the nation’s development goals.
