Mogadishu, Somalia – The Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation
(DFS) has officially announced that Somalia is entering an inclusive and transparent electoral phase, firmly grounded in the country’s legal framework.
In a press release issued under reference number WAGF&D/XW/0159/2026, the Ministry emphasized that elections are a constitutional right for every citizen. The statement underscored that the electoral process plays a crucial role in fostering public confidence, promoting transparency, and ensuring broad community participation in selecting representatives for various state-level institutions.
The Ministry affirmed that the electoral process will be direct, free, and fair, based on the principles of democracy, accountability, and the protection of citizens’ rights. It further confirmed that all institutions involved in the electoral process will carry out their responsibilities in accordance with Somali law.
