U.S. President Donald Trump has explained that the visible bruise on his left hand was caused by his regular use of aspirin. He said the mark appeared after he accidentally hit his hand on a table while attending the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Trump shared the explanation with reporters while returning to the United States aboard Air Force One.

Last year, the White House confirmed that President Donald Trump had been diagnosed with a serious vein-related medical condition. The announcement followed several days of public speculation after photographs surfaced showing discoloration on the president’s hand.

According to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Trump later underwent a comprehensive medical examination. The evaluation included vascular tests after doctors observed swelling in his legs.

Leavitt stated that the bruise was most likely caused by a combination of frequent handshaking and Trump’s continued use of aspirin. She explained that aspirin is part of his preventive heart medication regimen.

Trump, who is currently 79 years old, has consistently said that he is in good health. On several occasions, he has described himself as “the healthiest president in U.S. history.”

Medical experts recently confirmed that the president was diagnosed with a vascular condition in which veins are unable to effectively pump blood back to the heart. This condition can cause blood to pool in the lower body, resulting in swelling.

Dr. Meryl Logan, an assistant professor of vascular surgery at the University of Texas at Austin, explained that veins normally work by pushing blood upward from the legs and returning it to the heart.
