The Somali Parliament has officially ratified the founding agreement of the East Africa Standby Force (EASF), a regional security mechanism designed to enhance peacekeeping, crisis response, and collective security across East Africa.
The Somali Cabinet has endorsed major legislative reforms, including the updated Penal Code, the establishment of a National Environment Management Authority, and key international agreements on maritime safety and humanitarian law. The decisions came during a weekly meeting chaired by Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre, who urged ministers to support ongoing reconciliation and peacebuilding efforts across the country.
The Somali Senate, led by Speaker Abdi Hashi Abdullahi, passed the law establishing the Somali Investment Agency and began reviewing the Piracy and Hostage Prevention Act, marking a significant step in boosting national investment and maritime security.
